The Shelton boys’ basketball team couldn’t overcome 20 turnovers and lost to Peninsula Saturday 40 to 37.
The Seahawks had the lead from the beginning of the game, going up 11 in the first quarter. The Highclimbers closed the gap to four in the second holding Peninsula to six points in the quarter.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks built a seven point lead only to see Shelton close to within a point.
The fourth quarter saw Peninsula’s lead to back to seven and the Highclimbers again close to one but couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Seahawks’ Roman Bockhorn had a game-high 25 points as Peninsula improved to 7-and-11 on the season, 6-and-6 in the South Sound Conference, taking over fourth in the standings.
Shelton was led by Ty Thompson’s 12 points and dropped to 7-and-11 overall, 5-and-7 in the SSC. The Highclimbers are now fifth in the standings .
Their next game is Tuesday when Capital comes to the Mini Dome. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game live. The Cougars are currently third in the standings.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost at Peninsula Saturday 68 to 38. The Lady Highclimbers dropped their third game in a row and are now 5-and-13 on the season, 3-and-9 in the SSC. Shelton is now sixth in the standings and travels to Conference leading Capital Tuesday.
