Wins for SHS Boys & NM Girls; Losses for SHS Girls, NM Boys & Both MMK Teams
The Shelton boys’ basketball team ended a five-game skid Friday beating North Thurston 56 to 48 in the Mini Dome. The game was broadcast live by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Rams had an early six-point lead on but the Highclimbers battled back and tied the game at 14 as Ty Thompson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer that ended the first quarter.
NT build an eight-point lead in the second quarter but the ‘Climbers would cut that to four by halftime.
Shelton held North Thurston to two points in the third quarter and took an 11-point lead.
The fourth quarter saw the Rams pull to within four points only to see the Highclimbers pull away at thre free throw line, hitting 8 of 15 attempts in the quarter, 15 of 22 for the game.
North Thurston’s Ravi Ath lead all scorers with 25 points, 14 the fourth quarter and 16 of the Rams’ 18 second half points.
The Highclimbers’ leading scorer was Ty Thompson with 13. Mason Kramer added 9. Chase Burfiend chipped in 8. And Ethan Clevenger finished with 7.
The Shelton boys improved to 7-and-10 on the season, 5-and-6 in the South Sound Conference. The win moves the ‘Climbers into a tie with Peninsula for fourth place. Shelton hosts the Seahawks tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 PM. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game live.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost at North Thurston Friday 54 to 47. The Lady Highclimbers dropped to 5-and-12 on the season, 3-and-8 in the SSC. The loss puts Shelton a game out of the playoffs with three games remaining. They travel to Peninsula Saturday.
The North Mason girls basketball team took care of Bremerton Friday 56 to 25. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-and-9 on the season, 5-and-6 in the Olympic League, currently fifth in the standings, a half game behind North Kitsap and Kingston. The girls from Belfair host Port Townsend Tuesday and travel to North Kitsap Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost at Bremerton Friday 62 to 44. The Bulldogs were held to two points in the first quarter and were down 28 to 11 at the half. The Knights led 49 to 25 after three quarters and coasted to the win. The boys’ from Belfair dropped to 3-and-15 on the season, 1-and-10 in the Olympic League. North Mason travels to Port Townsend Tuesday and wraps up the season at North Kitsap Thursday.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team lost to Taholah Friday 79 to 60. The Chitwhins had five players score in double figures to remain first in the 1B Coastal League standings. The Owls dropped to 9-and-9 on the season, 7-and-2 in League play, second in the standings with one game remaining in the regular season. MMK plays at North River Wednesday.
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team was held scoreless in the first quarter while Taholah scored 18 and cruised to a 56 to 14 win. The Lady Owls managed five points in the second quarter, two in the third and seven in the fourth, dropping to 5-and-4 in the 1B Coastal League, 5-and-10 overall. The girls from Matlock wrap up the regular season Wednesday at North River.
