MMK Boys Fall, SHS Wrestling 8th in Willapa Harbor Invitational
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team dropped a non-league game Saturday to Naselle 81 to 55.
The Comets jumped out to an 8-0 lead and were up 16 in the second quarter. That lead increased to 26 in the third quarter and was as high as 29 in the fourth.
The Owls were plaqued with turnovers, committing 23 miscues that led to Naselle points.
The Comets had three players score in double digits with Kolby Glenn scoring 22, Ethan Lindstrom getting 21, and Jimmy Strange adding 13.
Isaiah Compton led MMK with 20 points while Eddy Krippelcz added 14.
The boys from Matlock dropped to 7-and-8 on the season. They return to 1B Coastal League play Monday at home against North River. The Owls host Oakville Tuesday and Taholah Friday, and wrap up the regular season at North River on February 5th.
The Shelton wrestling team placed three in the Doug Makaiwi Memorial Invitational (Willapa Harbor Invitational) at Raymond High School Saturday.
Malachi Clifton finished 2nd at 132 pounds.
Cameron Coady placed 4th at 113 pounds.
Braden MacAlevy took 4th at 138 pounds.
As a team, the Highclimbers finished 8th out of 14 teams competing.
Shelton wraps up the regular season next week at Central Kitsap Tuesday and home against Peninsula Thursday.
