The name of the pedestrian who died Sunday after being hit on U.S. Highway 101 near California Road has been released. Brian D. Prouty, 53 of Shelton, died after being struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Astro van that fled fled the scene.
The Washington State Patrol is still looking for the driver of that van.
According to a press memo, Prouty was walking on the shoulder of southbound 101 just before 8 PM. At milepost 342 (near California Road), the van left the roadway, struck Prouty and fled the scene.
Prouted died at the scene.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office located the van later in the evening.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Patrol.
