The Washington State Patrol is looking for the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Astro van that fled after striking and killing a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 101 near California Road Sunday night.
According to a press memo, a 53-year-old Shelton man was walking on the shoulder of southbound 101 just before 8 PM. At milepost 342 (near California Road), the van left the roadway, struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
The pedestrian died at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office located the van later in the evening.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Patrol.
