NM & SHS Boys Hoops Fall; NM & SHS Wrestling Results
The North Mason boys’ baseketball team lost to Charles Wright Academy in overtime Saturday 40 to 35 in the final game of the North Mason Holiday Invitational at Hawkins Middle School.
This was a game of runs with the Tarriers going up seven in the first quarter and the Bulldogs battling back to take a two-point lead in the second. CWA led by two at the half and built a seven-point lead in the third. NM held Charles Wright scoreless for five minutes in the 4th quarter and only gave up two points by the end of regulation.
In overtime, the boys from Belfair only scored three points as the Tarriers pulled away by hitting four of four free throws after hitting two field goals.
Charles Wright Academy was led by Nathaniel Hosannah’s 13 points and Jayson Floyd’s 10.
Miller Campbell was North Mason’s leading scorer with 8 points.
The Bulldogs dropped to 2-and-8 on the season. The boys’ from Belfair host River Ridge next Saturday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game between the Bulldogs and the Hawks as part of a girls and boys double header.
In the first game of the invite Saturday, Forks held off Klahowya 48 to 47. The Spartans had three players score in double digits with Oscar Gonzalez leading the way with 12 points. Tony Hernandez-Flores and Logan Olson each scored 10 points. The Eagles also had three players score in double figures with Preston Roberts and Nicholas Lewis finishing with 11 points each and Drew Kraft added 10.
At the North Mason Hawkins Memorial Wrestling Classic, the host Bulldog boys finished 3rd in the team standings with two champions and three places.
Cole Tate won the 106 pound weight class.
Domingo Pedro-Gaspar took the championship at 132 pounds.
Jake Mathews finished 4th at 120 pounds.
Antonio Pedro-Alonzo was 4th at 126 pounds.
Brenden Miller took 4th at 285 pounds.
Four North Mason girls won their weight classes including Kaylie Case, Vanessa Navarro, Carli Durbin and Hailey Bradley. Kira Schwerzler finished 3rd.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost to Corvallis Saturday afternoon 63 to 48 in the Fort Vancouver Holiday Tournament. The Highclimbers take on Hockinson Sunday morning at 9:40 for 7th place in the second annual tournament. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that game live.
The Shelton boys wrestling team had three wrestlers place in the PAC Coast Wrestling Championships at Mountain View High School in Vancouver. Robert Allred finished 3rd at 152 pounds. Cameron MacAlevy placed 7th at 132 pounds. And Michael Gilman took 7th at 182 pounds.
The Shelton girls had four compete in the North Mason Hawkins Memorial Wrestling Classic. Kayla Fleshman and Jazlind Warren placed 2nd in their weight classes. Hanna Shrum and Alishia Cliffton were 4th.
