SHS & NM Wrestlers Place at HammerHead; SHS Girls Win; MMK Boys Lose
Two wrestlers from Mason County took championship at the HammerHead Invitational Saturday. Shelton’s Kayla Fleshman won the 110 pound championship while North Mason’s Carli Durbin won the championship at 190 pounds.
Five Highclimbers also placed at the Kitsap Pavilion:
Michael Gilman was 4th at 182 pounds.
Cameron MacAlevy took 4th at 132 pounds.
Marie Marbett was 4th at 145 pounds.
Robert Allred was 5th at 152 pounds.
Alisha Clifton took 6th place at 125 pounds.
Two Bulldogs also placed at the invite:
Hailey Bradley was 4th at 190 pounds.
Kaylie Case took 6th place at 125 pounds.
The Shelton girls basketball team made it two wins in a row Saturday beating Forks 47 to 31 on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Lady Highclimbers held the Lady Spartans to three field goals in the first half building a 15-point halftime lead and had a 19-point lead in the third quarter.
Forks was able to close to 10 points a couple of times but wasn’t able to stop Shelton despite a game-high 16 points from the Spartans’ Kadie Wood who scored 10 in the fourth quarter.
Jayde Smith led Shelton with 15 points hitting four three-pointer. Taya Gouley added 12 points.
The Highclimbers improved to 3-and-5 on the season. They are taking a break for the holidays. The Shelton girls’ next game is January 3rd when they travel to Auburn.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team lost its second non-league game in a row Saturday, falling at Winlock 77 to 55. The Owls drop to 3-and-5 on the season. The boys from Matlock are off until January 7th when they return to 1B Coastal League play hosting Lake Quinault.
