City Adopts 2020 Budget

The Shelton City Council adopted the City’s 2020 Budget Tuesday night. Next year’s budget totals $30,367,880 for all funds and includes $12,290,690 for the General Fund.

This budget includes $3.1 Million for the Police Department and $96,200 for a Homeless Resource Coordinator.

The City Council also approved the property tax levy for 2020 which is 1.6 percent higher than 2019 after taking the statutory 1 percent plus new construction. The City’s EMS levy increase is 0.9 percent.

During the public hearing on the City’s 2020 budget Tuesday night, only one person spoke. Mike Olsen questioned the creation of a homeless coordinator.

Council Member Joe Schmit did have a warning for the council.

The budget was unanimously adopted.
