MMK Hoops Split; SHS & NM Bowling Fall
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team opened the season with a 71 to 38 win at Quilcene Tuesdeay. The Owls held the Rangers to single-digit scoring in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters and had a 20-point lead at the half. The boys from Matlock were outscored 18 to 17 in the 3rd quarter but poured it on in the 4th. MMK hosts Three Rivers Christian Thursday.
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team dropped its season opener at Quilcene Tuesday 36 to 20. The Lady Owls had a one-point lead (5 to 4) after one quarter but the Lady Rangers held them to 4 points in the 2nd and took an 18 to 9 lead into halftime. Quilcene held the girls from Matlock to 2 points in the 3rd quarter, taking a 30 to 11 lead into the final 8 minutes. MMK outscored the Rangers 9 to 6 in the 4th but couldn’t overcome the earlier deficit. Mary M. Knight hosts Three Rivers Christian Thursday.
The Shelton girls’ bowling team lost their first match of the season Tuesday falling to Capital 4 to 1. The Lady Highclimbers are now 8-and-1 on the season, 5-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. They travel to All Star Lanes in Silverdale Thursday to take on Central Kitsap.
The North Mason girls’ bowling team lost to Olympic Tuesday 6 to 1. The Lady Bulldogs crop to 1-and-3 on the season. They host Sequim next Tuesday at Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard.
