[VIDEO] The Mason County Commission finalized the 2020 budget Tuesday afternoon. During the final budget workshop, the Commissioners decided on several requests from departments that fall under the Current Expense which included denying a request from Public Health for two new staff. Under the Road Fund, Public Works was seeking three additional staff. The Commission decided to cut that to one.
The 2020 Current Expense Budget totals $38,004,159 Million in revenues and $37,984,456 in expenses leaving a surplus of $19,704. The total for 2020 Special Funds is $69,262,552. These numbers may be adjusted slightly before the preliminary 2020 budget is released on Monday, November 18th. A public hearing to certify property tax levies will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 9:15 AM and the public hearing on the 2020 budget is 9 AM Monday, December 2, 2019.
