After additional ballots from Tuesday’s General Election were counted Wednesday, the only changes to report are in the races for Southside School Board.
John E. Johnson has increased his lead on Don Robbins for School Board Director Position No. 1. Johnson now has a 50-vote lead with 310 votes (53.73%) to Robbins’ 260 (45.06%).
Laurie Cox’s lead on Brandon Homan for School Board Director Position No. 2 is now just five votes. Cox has 285 votes (49.91%) and Homan has 280 votes (49.04%). There are six write-ins with accounts for the remaining 1.05 percent.
Gigi Olsen has overtaken Matt Jewett for School Board Director Position No. 4 and now has a four-vote lead. Oslen has 287 votes (49.57%) to Jewett’s 283 votes (48.88%) with nine write-ins accounting for 1.55 percent of the vote.
No significant changes in the remaining unofficial results.
James Boad leads George Blush 760 votes (53.3%) to 648 votes (45.44%) for Shelton City Council Member No. 1. And incumbent Kathy McDowell leads Dean Jewett 821 votes (54.88%) to 660 votes (44.12%) for Shelton City Council Member No. 2.
In Mason County Fire District 4, incumbent Gary Plews maintains his lead on David Frost for Commissioner Position No. 3. Plews now has 868 votes (57.71%) to Frost’s 595 (39.56%).
For Mason County Fire District 5 (Central Mason Fire & EMS) Commissioner Position No. 3, Steve Pierce has increased his lead on incumbent Del Griffey. Pierce now has 2,296 votes (57.43%) to Griffey’s 1,638 (40.97%).
In Mason County Fire District 6 (Union), Mike Sheetz maintains his substantial lead on Michelle Ozaki for Commissioner Position No. 2. Sheetz has 503 votes (68.06%) to Ozaki’s 233 votes (31.53%).
Lake Cushman voters are overwhelmingly in favor of Mason County Fire District 18’s property tax levy for fire protection and emergency medical services with 68.13 percent approval. That’s 344 voting “Yes” and 161 voting “No”.
North Mason Regional Fire Authority’s bond to construct a new headquarters continues to pass with 62.92 percent approval. That’s 1,454 voting for the $10 Million bonds and 857 voting against.
In the race for Shelton School Board Director District No. 1, incumbent Sandy Tarzwell continues to lead Cheryl Williams. Tarzwell has 1,881 votes (51.34%) while Williams has 1,697 votes (46.32%). The remaining 2.35 percent are write-ins.
In the Mary M. Knight School District, Cynthia Brehmeyer has increase her lead on Rick Johnson for School Board Director District No. 3. Brehmeyer leads 156 votes (59.54%) to 103 votes (39.31%) with three write-ins (1.15%).
Amanda Gonzales has increased her lead on Jennifer Jutson for School Board Director Position No. 2 and now leads 136 votes (56.43%) to 101 votes (41.91%) with four write-ins (1.66%).
The Pioneer School District’s Capital Levy for the cost of expanding and renovating Shelton High School continues to pass with 54.4 percent approval. That’s 1,890 voting “Yes” and 1,584 voting “No”.
Janeen McLaughlin has increase her lead on Susan (Soosi) Day for Pioneer School Board Director Position No. 2 now with 1, 456 votes (56.48%) to 1,063 votes (41.23%) with 59 write-ins (2.29%).
Election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office have now counted 15,835 ballots and have more than 3,000 left to count. More result are expected Thursday.
