Mason County’s unemployment rate dropped in September. Washington State Employment Security Department says the County’s unemployment rate last month was 6.2 percent. That’s down four-tenths of a percentage point from the revised rate for August of 6.6 percent but six-tenths higher than September 2018’s rate of 5.6 percent.
Adjacent counties also saw decreases in unemployment last month. Thurston (4.8%) and Kitsap (4.5%) counties had their unemployment rate drop a half percent. Pierce County saw a decrease of six-tenths of a perent to 5 percent. Grays Harbor (6.7%) and Jefferson (5.5%) had drops of seven-tenths. And Lewis County saw the largest drop of eight-tenths to 5.9 percent.
