The Shelton and North Mason football teams suffered road losses Friday. The Highclimbers lost at Timberline 55 to 14 while the Bulldogs fell at La Salle 68 to 8.
Timberline 55, Shelton 14
[VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS] Shelton got on the board first but couldn’t overcome five turnovers and Timberline seem to score at will putting up 49 points before the Highclimbers scored again and the Blazers picked up the 55 to 14 South Sound Conference win. Click here for full game video.
Shelton took advantage of a Timberline missed field goal midway through the first quarter for the game’s first score. The Highclimbers went 80 yards in four plays with Christian Lopez taking a pass from Danny Mendiola-Lopez 55 yards for the score.
Shelton’s second score came in the third quarter. The ‘Climbers had a six-play 74-yard drive capped by Gavin Gould’s 48-yard TD run.
Shelton dropped to 0-and-6 on the season while Timberline improved to 2-and-4, 1-and-3 in the SSC. The Highclimbers return to Jack Stark Field at Highclimber Staduim next Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the ‘Climbers’ Homecoming game against Gig Harbor. Kickoff is 7 PM.
La Salle 68, North Mason 8
[VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS – courtesy of Eli Sports & NFHS Network[ North Mason’s road trip to Union Gap to play La Salle ended in a 68 to 8 loss for the Bulldogs who started the game with a fumble that lead to the first of 61 straight Lightning points.
The boys from Belfair got on the board for the first time early in the fourth quarter. The two-play, 44 yard scoring drive was set up by a 26-yard (#22 not on roster) kick off return that ended the third quarter.
Reese Smelcer found the end zone on a 33-yard run.
North Mason added the two-point conversion on a fake kick where holder Jacob Anderson completed a pass to Mason Shumaker.
The Bulldogs drop to 2-and-4 on the season. They return to Phil Pugh Stadium and Olympic League play next Friday against North Kitsap. That Homecoming game in Belfair kicks off at 7 PM.
