Mason County’s unemployment rate held steady in August. Washington State Employment Security says the County’s unemployment rate last month was 6.7 percent which is unchanged from the revised rate for July. However, the rate is seven-tenths of a percentage point higher than the rate for August 2018 which was 6 percent.
Among adjacent counties, only Kitsap County had it’s unemployment rate hold steady at 5.1 percent. Jefferson (6.3%), Lewis (6.8%), and Thurston (5.3%) counties saw their unemployment rates increase by one-tenth of a percent. Grays Harbor (7.4%) and Pierce (5.7%) counties say increases of two-tenths in August.
