Truck Hits Twanoh State Park Boulder

A pickup truck hit a tree and a boulder at Twanoh State Park Friday night.

The Washington State Patrol says the 1978 Chevrolet pickup was westbound on State Route 106 about 11 PM. As the truck approached the State Park, the driver fell asleep, causing it to leave the roadway. The Chevy then struck the tree and the landscape boulder next to the park’s parking lot. Debris from the collision hit two unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot. The truck then returned to SR-106 and came to rest in the westbound lane. The highway was blocked for about an hour.

Troopers are still investigating but believe drugs or alcohol were involved. The 35-year-old Belfair man driving the pickup could face DUI charges.
