State Highway Construction 7/21 to 7/27

The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from July 21, 2019 to July 27, 2019.

US 101 – Coffee Creek – Remove Fish Barrier

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 346.8
Description: Travelers who use the US 101 Shelton-Matlock interchange will notice orange signs and construction activities as crews will begin efforts to remove fish barriers along Coffee Creek and rebuild two ramps. While the initial work will have little effect on travelers, drivers are encouraged to watch for trucks entering and exiting the construction zone.  As work progresses, the project later will require a temporary traffic shift on Shelton-Matlock Road west of US 101 near the interchange. This project also will rebuild the southbound US 101 ramps to and from the Shelton-Matlock Road.

Highway: SR 3 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 19.2 to 20.2
Description: One-way alternating traffic as crews conduct tree trimming. 
Work Schedule: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday through Thursday through Thursday, Aug. 1. 

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 347.5
Description: Shoulder closure in both directions for vegetation management. 
Work Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 18.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 343 to 345
Description: One-way alternating traffic for Port of Shelton tree felling. 
Work Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday from Monday, July 22 through Monday, July 29. 

Highway: SR 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 14.8 to 14.9
Description: Shoulder repair on SR 302 near Goldman Drive NW. Daytime drivers will see alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers.
Work Schedule: 9 a.m. to 11: a.m. Wednesday, July 24.

SR 302 – E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 – Remove Fish Barriers, Paving and ADA Compliance
Highway: 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.8 to 16.9
Description: This project removes and replaces three fish barrier culverts under SR 302 with fish passable structures and repaves nearly 7 miles of highway along with ADA improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Work Schedule: During construction, drivers should expect daytime lane and shoulder closures, extended weekend closures, extended on- and off-ramp closures and up to a full, week long closure of the Purdy Spit for deck repairs.  Project webpage.

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 4 to 11.5
Description: Lane closure as crews install pavement markings along the highway.
Work Schedule: 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday, July 22 through Thursday, July 25.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 295 to 280
Description: Slow moving vehicle in both directions for pavement striping. Drivers will encounter “Wet Paint” signs ahead of the work zone. Please do not cross wet paint. 
Work Schedule: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, July 22.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 283 to 294
Description: Slow moving vehicle for vegetation management. Crews will pull over as needed to let traffic pass. 
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 24 through Thursday, Aug. 1.
