City Chip Seal Work Starts Monday

The City of Shelton’s Public Works Department is expected to begin work on the 2019 Chip Seal project on Monday, July 22nd in three locations. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by Wednesday, July 31st, weather dependent.

Location 1: Wallace Kneeland Boulevard between Olympic Highway North and Shelton Springs Road.

Location 2: Shelton Springs Road between North 13th Street and Shelton City limits near Tarragon Avenue.

Location 3: North 13th Street/B Street between Olympic Highway North and K Street.

There will be single lane closures throughout the work areas. Flaggers and a pilot car will be directing traffic through the work areas throughout the duration of the project. Expect delays.

Chip seal is a process where a special protective wearing surface is applied to the existing roadway as part of ongoing maintenance to extend the life of the pavement at a fraction of the cost of a pavement overlay.
