Oregon Man Injured in 101 Crash near Eldon

A 53-year-old Oregon man was injured when his truck truck struck trees Friday on U.S. Highway 101 and went down an embankment near Eldon.

The State Patrol reports the 2013 Toyota Tundra was northbound on 101 about 7:30 AM. At milepost 319, the truck left the roadway to the right and struck two trees. The vehicle then spun clockwise before coming to rest down an embankment.

The driver of the truck, identified as Donald S. Abbot from Klamath Falls, Oregon, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A press memo indicates that the cause of the crash was Abbot falling asleep at the wheel.
