The Shelton Police Department is investigating what led to a stabbing at Loop Field Sunday night that left a man with a laceration to his arm.
A news release says Shelton officers were dispatched to a large fight at Loop Field about 9:40 PM. Dispatch advised that a large group of males were throwing beer bottles at one another and that approximately ten subjects were physically fighting in the field located at 1020 West Franklin Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been assaulted with a knife. The 36-year-old Shelton man was transported to Mason General Hospital for a laceration to his arm. The injury was not life threatening. The victim was allegedly intoxicated and unable to explain to officers who had assaulted him or any of the circumstances of the fight.
Authorities say there is no information available on a suspect at this time. Anyone who witnessed this disturbance is encouraged to contact the Shelton Police Department’s Detective Division at 360-426-4441, Case #19-S06916.
“Shelton PD will be focusing on the sponsored sporting activities at Loop Field in the near future,” said Captain Mike Fiola. “We will be increasing patrols and strictly enforcing liquor laws at all City parks.”
