Two on Motorcycle Injured in 101 Crash

Two people on a motorcycle were airlifted after a crash with an SUV on U.S. Highway 101 south of Brinnon.

The Washington State Patrol says the 2016 BMW R1200 Motorcycle was southbound on 101 just before 3 PM. As the bike approached Canal View Street (milepost 311 – 4 miles south of Brinnon), a northbound 2003 Toyota Sequoia SUV making a left turn to Canal View struck the motorcycle.

The highway was block for two hours and 15 minutes.

Cause of the crash in under investigation.

A press memo identifies the couple on the motorcycle as 60-year-old Christopher S. Girdwood and 68-year-old Mary H. Girdwood. Both from Foley, Alabama. Both were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the SUV, Steven W. Schlaefli, 62 of Brinnon, was not injured.

The motorcycle and the SUV were totaled and impounded.
