Sheriff to Provide Security to Union Fire Commission

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office will provide a deputy for security during Mason County Fire District 6 Commission meetings under an overtime contract approved by the Mason County Commission Tuesday.

The Union Fire Department’s Chief, Clint Volk, made the request for security assistance during the Fire District’s monthly board meetings due to what was described in County Commission briefing material as “some disruptions.”

The Fire District will pay the Sheriff’s Office $85 per hour for the deputy as needed and when a deputy is available. The overtime contract runs through the end of the year but can be extended through renegotiation or canceled with 30 days written notice.
