[VIDEO] The Mason County Commission has approved a resolution that will ask Spencer Lake property owners to establish a Lake Management District to fund noxious aquatic plant control.
If Lake Management District No. 3 is established, the owners of the 185 parcels with lakefront access to Spencer Lake would pay 23 cents per thousand of assessed value for 10 years beginning in 2020. This assessment is expected to generate about $14,000 next year.
Prior to unanimous County Commission action Tuesday, a public hearing was held.
Mason County’s Support Services Department will send ballots on the formation of Lake Management District No. 3 to property owners in the proposed district. Those ballots will need to be returned to the County Commissioners’ Office by 5 PM July 17th.
Once counted, those ballots will be available for public inspection.
