Special Olympics Torch Run Thursday

Mason County Law Enforcement are holding the Torch Run for Special Olympics Thursday. Runners will start at the Belfair Safeway and finish at Little Creek Casino running past several locations including the the Mason County Sheriff’s Office North Precinct, James A. Taylor High School, North Mason High School, Hawkins Middle School, Lake Limerick, Mason County Fire District 9 Station on Road Runner Drive, the Alderbrook community, Alderbrook Resort, the Washington Corrections Center, Shelton High School, downtown Shelton and the Squaxin community.

Route and Viewing Areas:

  • 8 AM Start: Belfair Safeway parking lot – run through Belfair for one mile to North Precinct
  • 8:20 to 8:25: North Mason School District – run from Bus Barn around Alternative School, High School, Middle School, back to Bus Barn.
  • 8:50 to 9:50: Lake Limerick – run from (north) entrance at St. Andrews Drive North to Lake Limerick Fire Station.
  • 10 AM to 10:40: Fire Station 9-2 (50 E. Road Runner Drive) – run west on McEwan Prairie Road to Brockdale Road then east on McReavy to Fire Station.
  • 11 AM to 11:40: Alderbrook Community – run from Manzanita Drive (at McReavy) onto East Country Club Drive North, right onto East Fairway Lane, right on Manzanita Drive back to McReavy.
  • 11:40 to 11:55: Alderbrook Resort & Spa – run through cabin area to end of dock and back.
  • 12:25 to 12:35: Washington Corrections Center – run through parking lot and around flag pole.
  • 12:50 to 12:55: Shelton High School – run around parking lot with athletes.
  • 1 PM to 2 PM: Shelton – run from high school down Shelton Springs Road, right onto Wallace Kneeland Boulevard, left onto Olympic Highway North, right onto 7th Street, left onto Railroad Avenue, left onto Front Street, right onto Pine Street/State Route 3 to Shelton Yacht Club (Oakland Bay Marina).
  • 2:40 to 3:30 Squaxin Community – run SE Bloomfield Road from SE Klah Ch Min Driver to Old Olympic Highway to Squaxin Loop around Squaxin Police Department then along Old Olympic Highway to Little Creek Casino.
  • 3:30 to 4:30 Little Creek Casino.
