Peninsular Railway, also known as the Simpson Railroad, is bringing its historic red locomotive and caboose to town for Forest Festival on Saturday for a “Fill The Caboose” Event.”
The 501(c)3 non-profit organization is gathering non-perishable food items and toiletries. The red locomotive and caboose will be on the railroad tracks between Railroad Avenue and Franklin Street past 12th Street Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Come by and see the locomotive and caboose from the last logging railroad to operate in the U.S.A. and help preserve this important part of Mason County’s history.
On Sunday, the group’s Speeder #55 will be on Olympic Highway North in Shelton for Forest Festival Car Show from 9 AM to 3 PM. The new Simpson Railroad hats will be for sale, as well as many other items to support the Peninsular Railway and Lumbermen’s Museum.
