An Olympia man died at the scene of a collision involving a dump truck on U.S. Highway 101 near the Mason/Jefferson County Line Thursday morning.
The Washington State Patrol reports the 2006 Kenworth dump truck pulling a 2005 Beall dump trailer was southbound on 101 about 7:45 AM. At milepost 315 which is near Webster Lane, the dump truck drove into the southbound ditch, re-entered the highway, crossed the center line and struck the driver’s side of northbound 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The dump truck and its trailer rolled onto the driver’s side, spilling a load of dirt.
Highway 101 was blocked for seven hours and 47 minutes.
The driver of the Ram, Ronald J. Casey, 61 of Olympia, died at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck, Delbert E. Houk, 47 of Port Angeles, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
