The North Mason baseball team’s season came to an end Saturday in the Class 2A State Round of 16 at Daniels Field in Anacortes. The Bulldogs lost to Liberty 4 to 3 in 8 innings.
The Renton school scored three runs in the 2nd inning and held that lead until the top of the 6th when the Bulldogs scored two runs with two out. Ethan Collins batted in Preston Macomber and an error on a Troy McCormick fly ball allowed Bently Fisk to score.
The boys from Belfair tied the game in the top of the 7th when Brenden Kimball hit a solo home run with two out.
Kimball then retired Liberty’s three batters in the bottom of the frame and the game headed to the 8th.
North Mason went one, two, three in their half of the 8th: Jakob Stark grounded out, Mason Fisher stuck out and Ethan Collins grounded out.
McCormick took over the pitching duties in the bottom of the 8th and the Patriots went right to work with a single to center field by Parker Coleman. Jacob Thoresen followed with a walk. Kai Alberghini then hit a double that scored Coleman for the walk off win.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 12-and-13 record.
