State Highway Construction 5/19 to 5/25

The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from May 19, 2019 to May 25, 2019.


Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 352.6
Description: Several rolling slowdowns for both northbound and southbound US 101. Traffic will also be delayed at the SR 3 on-ramp southbound US 101 and the SR 108 on-ramp to northbound US 101. This will occur for installation of new transmission lines across US 101. 
Work Schedule: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 19.  

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 332 to 333 
Description: One-way alternating traffic for utility work. 
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday through Wednesday, June 5.  No work Memorial Day weekend from Friday through Monday, May 24-27 or Wednesday, May 29.

Highway: SR 119 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) .08 to 10.8
Description: One-way alternating traffic for utility work.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday through May 31. No work Memorial Day weekend from Friday through Monday, May 24-27.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 366 to 367.5
Description:  Southbound US 101 on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close for guardrail repair. Drivers will detour via the southbound US 101 exit to southbound I-5 and return via Trosper Road.  
Work Schedule: 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 23.  

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 11.5 to 20.6
Description:  Eastbound right lane closure for sign washing and guidepost repair. 
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 22-23. 

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 0 to 11.5
Description: Single eastbound lane closure for sign washing and repairs. 
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday, May 22-23.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 292.7 to 293.6
Description: Single lane and shoulder closure has utility crews for Jefferson Couny PUD conduct routine vegetation management.
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday beginning Tuesday, May 28 through Monday, June 10. 


US 101 – Old Gardiner Rd to N of W Uncas Rd – Paving and Bridge Deck Repair
US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 275.8 to 283.9
Description: Drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic during overnight hours as crews repave nearly 8 miles of US 101 from east of the Clallam-Jefferson County line to north of the US 101/SR 104 interchange. Travelers can expect overnight, single lane closures each weekday through late summer until work is complete. During the overnight closures, drivers will follow a pilot car through the work zone. Work Schedule: During construction, travelers will encounter overnight single lane closures with a pilot car beginning Monday, April 22. Crews will work from 8 p.m. each Monday through Friday night to 9 a.m. the following day until project completion.

Mox Chehalis Road Bridge Replacement
 Mox Chehalis Road (south of SR 8 near McCleary) Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 7.8 to 7.9

SR 302 – E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 – Remove Fish Barriers, Paving and ADA Compliance
Highway: 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.8 to 16.9
Description: This project removes and replaces three fish barrier culverts under SR 302 with fish passable structures and repaves nearly 7 miles of highway along with ADA improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Work Schedule: During construction, drivers should expect daytime lane and shoulder closures, extended weekend closures, extended on- and off-ramp closures and up to a full, weeklong closure of the Purdy Spit for deck repairs.  Project webpage.
