State Highway Construction 5/12 to 5/18

The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from May 12, 2019 to May 18, 2019.


Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 352.6
Description: Several rolling slowdowns for both northbound and southbound US 101. Traffic will also be delayed at the SR 3 on-ramp southbound US 101 and the SR 108 on-ramp to northbound US 101. This will occur for installation of new transmission lines across US 101. 
Work Schedule: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 19.  

Highway: SR 119 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) .08 to 10.8
Description: One-way alternating traffic for utility work.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday through May 31. No work Memorial Day weekend from Friday through Monday, May 24-27.

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 14 to 15.5
Description:  Eastbound left lane closure for crack sealing. 
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 0 to 4
Description: Eastbound left lane closure for pavement repairs.
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 13 through Tuesday, May 14.

Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 5 to 6
Description: Eastbound left lane closure for pavement repairs
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 274.5 to 293
Description: Slow moving vehicle in both directions for routine vegetation management. Crews will pull over as needed to let drivers pass.
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Monday through Thursday, May 13-16. 


US 101 – Old Gardiner Rd to N of W Uncas Rd – Paving and Bridge Deck Repair
US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 275.8 to 283.9
Description: Drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic during overnight hours as crews repave nearly 8 miles of US 101 from east of the Clallam-Jefferson County line to north of the US 101/SR 104 interchange. Travelers can expect overnight, single lane closures each weekday through late summer until work is complete. During the overnight closures, drivers will follow a pilot car through the work zone. Mox Chehalis Road Bridge Replacement
 Mox Chehalis Road (south of SR 8 near McCleary) Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 7.8 to 7.9

SR 302 – E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 – Remove Fish Barriers, Paving and ADA Compliance
Highway: 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.8 to 16.9
Description: This project removes and replaces three fish barrier culverts under SR 302 with fish passable structures and repaves nearly 7 miles of highway along with ADA improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Work Schedule: During construction, drivers should expect daytime lane and shoulder closures, extended weekend closures, extended on- and off-ramp closures and up to a full, weeklong closure of the Purdy Spit for deck repairs.  Project webpage.
