After the first day of the South Sound Conference Championships, Gig Harbor leads both the boys and girls in team scoring. The Lady Highclimbers are in 6th place while the Shelton boys are 7th.
Top placing ‘Climbers after day one events:
Victoria Silverman won the girls’ 100-meter hurdles.
Austyne Cralle placed 2nd in the girls’ triple jump.
The relay team of Austyne Cralle, Trinity Payment, Kamdan Nicklaus and Victoria Silverman finished 2nd in the girls’ 4 x 100.
William Johnson was 3rd in the boys’ 1600 meters.
Sebastian Engel finished 5th in the boys’ shot put.
Alauna Carstens was 5th in the girls’ 1600 meters.
The SSC meet continues Saturday at Highclimber Stadium.
At the Olympic League 2A Track and Field Championships Thursday, the North Mason boys placed 3rd in the team scores with 207 while the Lady Bulldogs were 5th with 110. Top finishers from Belfair:

Miller Campbell was 2nd in the boys’ javelin.
Posiulai Tupolo placed 2nd in the boys’ discus.
Kira Schwerzler took 3rd in the girls’ 400 meters.
Savannah Knutson was 4th in the girls’ 1600 meters
Averie Dupont placed 4th in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles.
Noah Hasseblad finished 4th inthe boys’ 1600 meters.
Ryan Crookshank was 4th in the boys’ high jump and 5th in the 400 meters.
The relay team of Jacob Anderson, Christopher Ramsey, Anthoney Arreola and Reese Smelcer placed 5th in the boys 4 x 100.
The North Mason fast pitch softball team wrapped up the season with an 11 to 6 loss to Olympic Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs kept the game close and had a two-run lead in the 4th inning but the Trojans pulled away scoring eight runs in the final three innings. Jill Maiuri led the girls from Belfair in the loss going 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, a triple and three RBI. Amber Johnson was 2 for 3 with a home run and a RBI. North Mason finished the season with a 7-and-11 overall record, 4-and-8 in the Olympic League.
