Next Week is Candidate Filing Week

Candidate filing begins next week. Those interesed in running for office need to file their Declaration of Candidacy with the Mason County Auditor’s Office. Filing begins at 9 AM Monday, May 13th and ends 4 PM Friday, May 17th.

Candidates can file online 24 hours a day (beginning at 9 AM Monday) or in person during business hours (9 AM to 4 PM) at the Auditor’s Office, 411 N. 5th Street in Shelton.

There are 63 positions up for election this fall including three seats on the Shelton City Council and two seats on the Port of Shelton Commission. There are filing fees for those postions. Public Hospital District 1 Commission has one seat up for election. Public Hospital District 2 has two seats open. And there are also openings on every other port district commission, every fire district commission, at least three seats on every school board in Mason County (three each on the Shelton and North Mason School Boards), and water district boards (Belfair, Harstene Pointe, Maggis Lake, Tahuya River and Trails End.)
