An increased police presence will be seen at Shelton schools this week after a threat was made.
Late Tuesday evening, the Shelton School District was notified of a threatening statement made by a student at Oakland Bay Junior High. The Shelton Police Department began an investigation early Wednesday morning. The Shelton School District is currently working closely with the Shelton Police Department in the investigation. School officials say they do not take any threat lightly and there will be additional police presence at Oakland Bay Junior High for the remainder of the week.
Authorities are asking parents to speak with their children about making threats of this nature. All threats made against schools will be taken seriously and will be investigated.
