Sheriff, Elected Officials Getting Raises in 2020

[VIDEO] Beginning in 2020, Mason County’s elected officials will be getting a raise. Tuesday, the Mason County Commission decided to bring the salaries for the Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner and Treasurer in line with the highest paid Commissioner and put the Sheriff’s salary 5 percent higher than the Undersheriff.

During testimony on the salary increases, Mason County Auditor Paddy McGuire and Mason County Assessor Patti McLean ask the Commissioners NOT to give them a raise but instead use the funds for other needs in their offices.

The resolution passed on a 2 to 1 vote with Commissioner Randy Neatherlin voting against.

The impact to the 2020 budget for the Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner and Treasurer raises is $31,821. The Sheriff’s salary increase next year will be $39,175.
