The North Mason baseball team won two games Saturday in the 2019 West Central District 3 2A Baseball Tournament and has advanced to the District semifinals. With their wins – first pounding pounding Lindbergh 15 to 6 and then shutting out White River 6 to 0 – the Bulldogs are also heading to the 2A State Tournament.
Brenden Kimball batted in five runs against Lindbergh, including a home run and a double. Ethan Collins was 3 for 5 at the plate with three RBI. And Troy McCormick picked up the win on the mound for the boys from Belfair, pitching six innings allowing three runs on five hits, striking out ten and walking four.
North Mason used two pitchers (Brenden Kimball & Blake Haegele) to shutout White River. Kimball got the win, going five and 2/3 innings allowing five hits, striking out nine and walking three. Offensively, Mason Shumaker was 3 for 4 at the plate with two doulbe and two RBI. Trevor Deardorff was 3 for 3 and batted in a run.
The Bulldogs will play Port Angeles next Saturday at 11 AM in the District semifinals. The boys from Belfair will play either River Ridge or Fife at 5 PM. If they get by the Roughriders, NM would play for the District Championship. If they fall to PA, then the Bulldogs would play for 3rd place. Losses in the first game and the second game on May 11th would mean 4th place and a number four seed in to the State’s round of 16 on May 18th.
State game locations are Anacortes, Auburn, Centralia or Ephrata.
