The Shelton fast pitch softball team won its third game in a row Thursday knocking off Peninsula 7 to 1.
The Lady Highclimbers pulled away from the Seahawks tying the game in the 1st inning with a run scored by Taya Gouley. Shelton added two runs in the 2nd inning on Maleah Walsh’s single. Kayla Zembas hit a two-run double in the 3rd. Alex Walters’ sacrifice grounder in the 4th inning added an insurance run. Another insurance run was added in the 6th by Kamryn Hyland’s sacrifice grounder.
Maleah Walsh finished was 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBI.
Kayla Zembas was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs batted in.
Alex Walters went 2 for 4 with with a double and an RBI.
Kamryn Hyland was 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Hyland also picked up the win, pitching seven innings, allowing one run on nine hits, striking out five without a walk and retired eight straight batters from the 3rd to the 6th.
The Highclimbers improved to 6-and-10 on the season, 4-and-8 in the South Sound Conference. Shelton has a non-league game against Kingston Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game.
