The Shelton fast pitch softball team scored five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with two out and the Lady Highclimbers beat Timberline 6 to 5 Monday. Shelton got on the board first in the 3rd inning on a wild pitch. The Blazers responded in the 4th inning with four runs and added a run in the top of the 7th.
In the ‘Climbers’ half of the final frame, Timberline errors helped Shelton pick up their second South Sound Conference win:

The Shelton baseball team wrapped up the 2019 season with a 10 to 2 loss to North Thurston Monday.
The Highclimbers couldn’t keep up with the Rams as they pounded out 14 hits including two home runs by Shea Thomas and a solo homer by Payton Clark.
NT jumped out to a three-run lead in the 1st inning on Thomas’ two-run HR and Van Barney’s sacrifice fly.
Shelton got their first run in their half of the 1st on a sacrifice fly by Max “Falcon” Johnson that scored Ty Smotherman.
The Rams’ Thomas hit his second home run in the 2nd inning, increasing North Thurston’s lead to 4 to 1.
NT added another run in the 4th inning on a double by Thomas Arend.
The Highclimbers got their second run in their half of the 4th as Caeleb Hitsman scored on a wild pitch.
The rest of the game belonged to the Rams who scored two runs in the 5th (a home run by Clark and a RBI double by Conran Carr) and three runs in the 6th (a two-run double by Thomas and an RBI single by Zack Sharp).
Thomas finished 3 for 4 at the plate with two home runs, a double and five RBI.
For Shelton, Ty Smotherman, Breden Engstrom, Caeleb Hitsman and Austin Ramsfield each had a hit. Max “Falcon” Johnson had an RBI.
The Highclimbers finish the season 7-and-13, 4-and-10 in the South Sound Conference.
The North Mason baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead at Klahowya Monday and held on to beat the Eagles 7 to 5 in the regular season finale. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the 1st inning and a run each in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings. Klahowya got two runs in the 4th and three in the 5th.
Blake Haegele led the boys from Belfair going 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBI.
Brenden Kimball was 1 for 2 with two RBI.
Mason Fisher was 2 for 4 with two doubles.
Mason Shumaker and Trevor Deardorff each batted in a run.
North Mason finished the regular season with a 10-and-10 regular season record, 6-and-6 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs take 4th place and will play either River Ridge or Lindbergh in the first round of the 2019 West Central District 3 2A Baseball Tournament. The game is set for 9 AM Saturday at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma.
The North Mason boys’ soccer team wrapped up the season Monday with a three-nil (3 to 0) loss to North Kitsap. The Bulldogs finish with a 5-10-and-1 overall record, 3-and-9 in the Olympic League.
The North Mason girls’ tennis team beat Chimacum Monday 5 to 2. The Lady Bulldogs host Sequim Wednesday.
