MMK Track Results, Shelton Soccer Ties, NM Soccer Wins

The Mary M. Knight track and field teams placed 4th in a meet at Chief Leschi Tuesday. The Owls’ Kaylee Sowle and Austin Fries were again among the leaders while others from Matlock placed.
Sowle won the girls’ 100 meters, the high jump and the triple jump, and was 2nd in the long jump.
Fries took the boys’ long jump and the triple jump, and was 3rd in the high jump.
Isaiah Compton placed 2nd in the boys’ discus, was 3rd in the shot put, and 4th in the long jump.
Zack Thompson finished 2nd the boys’ javelin.
Corbin Thompson was 4th in the boys’ 800 meters.
MMK has a Pacific League meet Thursday in Hoquiam and are among the 50-plus teams schedule to compete in the 59th Shelton Invite Saturday.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team played North Thurston to a 1-1 tie Tuesday night. The Highclimbers are now 8-4-and-1 on the season, 7-4-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. Shelton has two matches left in the regular season. The ‘Climbers play at Capital Thursday and wrap up the regular season next Tuesday at home against Central Kitsap. The top five teams in the SSC make the 2019 WCD / SW 3A Boys Soccer Tournament which begins on May 4th. Shelton is currently fourth in the standings.

The Shelton girls’ golf team knocked off Olympic Tuesday 76 to 68. The Lady Highclimbers host Bremerton Friday at Alderbrook Golf Course.

The Shelton girls’ tennis team slipped by Gig Harbor 3 to 2 Tuesday. The Lady Highclimbers wrap up the regular season Thursday at home against North Thurston. The South Sound Conference tournament is May 10th & 11th at the Steamboat Tennis & Athletic Club.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team beat Bremerton Tuesday 3 to 1. The Bulldogs improved to 5-8-and-1 on the season, 3-and-7 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair wrap up the regular season with games at Sequim Friday and at North Kitsap Monday.

The North Mason golf teams lost to Klahowya Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs fell 234 to 172 while the boys from Belfair lost 408 to 378. North Mason heads to the Olympic League Golf Championships next Tuesday at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course in Sequim.
