The Shelton baseball team was held to three hits and dropped a South Sound Conference game to Timberline Thursday 5 to 1.
The Highclimbers couldn’t overcome the pitching of the Blazers’ Daniel Furman who retired 12 batters in a row after Shelton got its run in the 1st inning and a hit batter with two out in the 5th. Furman also struck out 10 in seven innings.
Brenden Engstrom, Max “Falcon” Johnson and Matthew Osberg accounted for the ‘Climbers’ hits with Osberg batting in Blaine Van Aagten for Shelton’s only run.
For Timberline, Devin Carter was 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Kam Richards was 2 for 4. Colton Steepy, CJ Beard and Austin Swihart each went 1 for 3. Joseph Appleby and Ben Barker batted in a run each. The Blazers improved to 5-and-9 overall, 2-and-6 in the conference.
The Highclimbers drop to 6-and-7 on the season, 3-and-5 in the SSC. Shelton hosts Stadium Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that non-conference game.
The Shelton boys soccer team ended a two-game skid Thursday with a four-nil win over Yelm. The Highclimbers improved to 5-and-4 on the season, 4-and-4 in the South Sound Conference. They host Capital Saturday.
The Shelton boys’ golf team lost to Timberline 81 to 77 Thursday. The Highclimbers are off until April 23rd when they compete in the Kitsap Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Course. The ‘Climbers face host Central Kitsap, Gig Harbor, Peninsula and Gig Harbor on that Tuesday.
Mary M. Knight’s Kaylee Sowle won four events Thursday at the the Comet Booster Club Invite in Naselle. The Owl senior won the girls’ 100 meters, the girls high jump, the girls’ long jump and the girls’ triple jump.
On the boys’ side, MMK’s Corbin Thompson was 2nd in the 800 meters. Isaiah Compton placed 2nd in the discus and 3rd in the long jump. And Zack Thompson finished 2nd in the javelin.
Mary M. Knight competes in the Chehalis Activators Classic this weekend.
The North Mason boys’ track and field team beat Klahowya Friday 82 to 61 and beat Bremerton 78 to 16 while the Lady Bulldogs lost ot the Eagles 79 to 57 and fell to the Knights 75 to 52.

Christopher Ramsey won the boys’ long jump and the boys’ triple jump.
Averie DuPont won the girls’ 100-meter hurdles and the girls’ 300-meter hurdles.
Addilyn Varick won the girls’ shot put and was 3rd in the girls javelin.
Nicholas Grabicki took the boys’ 110-meter hurdles.
Dalton Block took the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.
Grady Durbin won the boys’ shot put.
Miller Campbell won the boys’ javelin.
Carli Durbin took the girls’ javelin.
Ryan Crookshank won the boys’ high jump and was 2nd in the boys’ 400 meters.
Felicity Fowler was 2nd in the girls’ javelin
Kylan Slayton was 2nd in the girls’ discus
Kira Schwerzler placed 2nd in the girls’ 200 meters.
Posiulai Tupolo finished 2nd in the boys’ shot put and the boys’ discus.
Daylun Williams was 2nd in the boys’ javelin.
Reese Smelcer finished 2nd in the boys’ long jump, 3rd in the boys’ 100 meters and 4rd in the boys’ 200 meters.
Roxanne Clegg placed 3rd in the girls’ discus.
Seth Conner was 3rd in the boys’ long jump and boys’ triple jump.
The track teams from Belfair will be competing in the Lil Norway Invite and the Mountlake Terrace Invite Saturday.
The North Mason girls’ golf team beat Port Townsend Thursday 253 to 232 while the boys’ team lost 212 to 208. The Bulld gs take on Sequim Monday at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.
The North Mason girls’ tennis team lost at North Kitsap Thursday 7 to 0. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Bremerton Friday.
