The City of Shelton will be reopening Olympic Highway North Friday and the first short-term closure of Northcliff Road is set for Monday.
The first layer of asphalt has successfully been laid on Olympic Highway North and the road will reopen between 7th Street and C Street by the end of the day on Friday, April 12th.
With the reopening of Olympic Highway North, the first short-term closure of Northcliff Road between Birch and Poplar is scheduled to start on Monday, April 15th. This closure will last through Friday, April 19th, including nights. Olympic Highway North will be used as the primary detour route. City crews will be installing a series of stormwater upgrades to alleviate harmful runoff issues that have caused damage to the roadway. This will include new storm drains and drain lines that cross Northcliff Road in multiple locations. This work work is being done prior to paving Northcliff between 1st Street and Poplar as part of the Basin 3 Sewer Rehabilitation Project. 4
The original multi-week closure of Northcliff Road that was scheduled from mid-April through mid-May is no longer necessary due to adjustments made to the Downtown Connector Project work plan by City staff.
However, the 1st & Alder intersection will be closed between Pine Street and Birch Street starting on Monday, April 15th through the end of July. As a reminder, all businesses near the 1st & Alder intersection are open during construction. Kobe Teriyaki, New Smile Denture Clinic, Northwest Clothing Company, and Mickey’s Deli can be accessed from West Birch Street. Advanced Chiropractic Rehabilitation, Subway, and City Center Motel can be accessed from North Front Street.
