Mason County’s unemployment rate increased in February. According to Washington State Employment Security, the county’s unemployment last month was 8 percent. That’s up six-tenths of a percentage point from January’s revised rate of 7.4 percent and a half percent higher than the 7.5 percent rate for February 2018.
With the expection of Kitsap County which held steady at 5.3 percent, adjacent counties also saw increases in unemployment in February. Thurston County’s unemployment rate increase one-tenth of a percent to 5.5 percent. Lewis (7.7%) and Pierce (6%) counties saw a jump of two-tenths. Grays Harbor County’s unemployment increase three-tenths of a percent to 8.6 percent. And Jefferson County (7%) saw an incrase of four-tenths.
