A Belfair man was involved in a three-vehicle, chain reaction crash near the naval shipyard in Bremerton that injured one person. The Washington State Patrol says a 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup, a 2005 Buick Rendezvous SUV and a 2003 Hyundai Elantra were westbound on State Route 304 in lane 2 of 3 about 3:30 PM Friday. The Dodge was ahead of the Buick. The Buick was ahead of the Hyundai. Just west of Charleston Beach Road, the pickup and the SUV came to a stop for traffic. The Elantra failed to stop and struck the rear of the Buick, pushing it into the Dodge.
The Hyundai and the Buick were towed from the scene. The pickup was driven away.
The driver of the Rendezvous, Divinia B. Lopez, 52 of Port Orchard, was injured and transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
The driver of the Dakota, Curt R. Cady, 51 of Belfair, and the driver of the Hyundai, Kavlin James Bowers, 21 of Gig Harbor, were not injured.
The Trooper’s report indicated speed and distracted driving (non-electronic) on the part of Bowers contributed to the crash.
