The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team’s season came to an end Saturday when the Owls lost to Yakama Nation 97 to 63 in a Class 1B Regional Qualifier game in Matlock.
The Eagles started fast and had an early seven-point lead. MMK was able to pull to within one before Yakama pulled away and the quarter ended with the Eagles up 25 to 19.
The boys from Matlock started the second quarter on a run and had the game tied at the 6:53 mark but Yakama responded and went up by 10. The Eagles maintained that margin for the remainder of the quarter and led 45 to 35 at halftime.
The second half belonged to Yakama, scoring for 29 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth.
The Eagles took advantage of 34 Mary M. Knight turnovers and hit 13 three-pointers.
Yakama was led in scoring by Bryce Strom who scored 24 points. Bryan Strom added 19. And Mylo Jones finished with 17.
The Owls’ Isaiah Compton had a game-high 25 points. Eddy Cripplecz chipped in 14 and Dylan Ralph finished with 13.
Mary M. Knight finishes the season with at 14-and-10 record.
