Win for SHS Girls, Losses for SHS & NM Boys
The Shelton girls’ basketball team wrapped up the season Thursday with a 59 to 48 win at Central Kitsap. The Lady Higclimbers finish the season with a 6-and-14 overall record, 4-and-10 in the South Sound Conference.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team couldn’t complete the comeback and fell to Central Kitsap Thursday 55 to 49.
The Highclimbers started slow as the Cougars opened the game with a 7-0 run. Shelton closed that gap to four points before CK turned up the pressure and increased their lead to 13 in the second quarter. The first half ended with Central Kitsap up 33 to 23.
In the third quarter, the Cougars built a 14-point lead but the ‘Climbers started their rally and were down 42 to 35 heading into the fourth. Shelton pulled to within one point twice late in the game but couldn’t quite complete the comeback.
The Highclimbers’ Ty Thompson had a game-high 20 points while Tyler Auld added 12.
The Cougars were led by Elijah McGee’s 17 points – 15 in the first half. Austin McMinds finished with 13 points. Colby White added 12. And Owen Davies chipped in 11.
Shelton finishes the regular season with a 12-and-8 overall record and places fourth in the South Sound Conference at 8-and-6.
Central Kitsap takes third in the SSC with a 10-and-4 conference mark, 14-and-6 overall.
Both teams are heading to the West Cental / Southwest District Tournament Wednesday. The Cougars host Mountainview while the Highclimbers travel to Spanaway Lake.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team wrapped up the season Thursday with a 75 to 67 loss to North Kitsap. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 7-and-13 overall record, 2-and-10 in the Olympic League.
