The Shelton boys’ basketball team knocked off North Thurston Friday 58 to 53. The Highclimbers swept the season series with the Rams and improved to 8-and-4 in the South Sound Conference, 12-and-6 overall. Shelton travels to Capital Tuesday.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team blew a 15-point lead and lost to North Thurston Friday 53 to 47.
In the first half, the Highclimbers took advantage of 10 Ram turnovers to build a 10-point second quarter lead. Shelton increased that lead to 15 in the third but North Thurston turned up the defense, cutting that to one point in the third and taking the lead in the fourth.
The Rams had three players score in double digits with Jazmin Arnold-McClanahan leading the way with 13 points. Brooklyn Harn and Laney Borchardt each added 11.
Shelton also had three players score in double digits. Kylind Powell had a game-high 17 points. Jayde Smith added 11 points again hitting three three-pointers. And Taya Gouley finished with 10 points.
The Highclimbers dropped to 5-and-13 on the season, 3-and-9 in the South Sound Conference. Shelton host Capital Tuesday.
