High School Sports Results from 1/19/19

Four Champions for SHS Wrestling; MMK Hoops Split

The Shelton wrestling teams took home championships Saturday at two tournaments.

The Lady Highclimbers wrestled in the Lady Lancer Lipstick Open at Lakes High School where Julia Ragsdale and Jazzline Warren won championships. Claudia Ramirez placed second. And Miracle Horne finished third.

The Shelton boys competed in the King of the Hills Tournament at Black Hills High School where Ammon Anderson and Trevor Meier brought home belts.

Michael Gilman and Peace Lee were second. And Cameron MacAlevy and Robbie Allred finished third.

Shelton wraps up South Sound Conference competition Tuesday at North Thurston.

The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team had little trouble with Morton-White Pass Saturday as the Lady Owls beat the Lady Wolverines 53 to 22. Specific details on the game were not available. The MMK girls improve to 12-and-2** on the season. The girls from Matlock return to 1B Coastal League play Tuesday at Lake Quinault.

The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team was held to six points in the third quarter and lost at Morton-White Pass Saturday 57 to 50. The Owls led 13 to 12 after the first quarter. The Worlverines held a two-point half lead (30 to 28). Morton-White Pass increased that lead to ten (44 to 34) in the third. And despite outscoring the 2B school in the fourth quarter (16 to 13), the boys from Matlock couldn’t overcome that single digit third. Mary M. Knight dropped to 9-and-7 on the season. The Owls return to 1B Coastal League play Tuesday at Lake Quinault.
