The Shelton girls’ basketball team pulled away from Central Kitsap Wednesday for a 48 to 30 South Sound Conference win.
The Cougars opened the game on a 7-0 run but the Highclimbers ended the first quarter on an 11-0 run. Shelton continued their run into the second quarter and led 25 to 14 at the half. In the third quarter the ‘Climbers pulled away and led by as many as 24 in the fourth.
Shelton forced 27 Central Kitsap turnovers which included six steals.
The Highclimbers’ Taya Gouley had a game-high 16 points (hitting four three’s) and four steals. Jayde Smith hit three three-pointers and finished with 9 points.
Leading scorer for the Cougars was Alexandra Neumann who scored 9 points.
Shelton improved to 3-and-9 on the season, 2-and-5 in the SSC. The Lady Highclimbers host Peninsual Friday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost at Central Kitsap Wednesday 57 to 35. The Highclimbers drop to 8-and-5 on the season, 4-and-3 in the South Sound Conference. They travel to Peninsual Friday.
