The Shelton boys’ basketball team ended a two-game skid in the Fort Vancouver Holiday Tournament Saturday knocking off the host Trappers 68 to 63 to finish seventh in the tourney.
This game was close with each team coming back from six-point deficits. The Highclimbers faced their deficit in the first quarter but took the lead in the second and held off Fort Vancouver the rest of the game.
Shelton was led by Ty Thompson’s 17 points. Tyler Auld hit three three-pointers, adding 14 points. Noah Benson also hit three three’s (all in the second quarter) finishing with 11 points. And Kyler Gall also added 11 points for the ‘Climbers.
The Trappers’ Kahlil Singleton hit seven three-pointers (four in the third quarter) getting 15 of his game-high 27 points in the third. However, the Highclimbers shut him down in the fourth. Fort Vancouver senior James Husband added to his career scoring total with 13 points. Husband reached 1,000 points in the Trappers’ game Friday. And Keyontae Cage added 12 points.
The Highclimbers went 1-and-2 in the inaugural Fort Vancouver Holiday Basketball Tournament and are now 8-and-3 on the season. They return South Sound Conference action at home Friday, January 4th against Capital. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that game live.
