The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost its opening game in the Fort Vancouver Holiday Tournament Thursday falling to North Creek 59 to 52.
The Highclimbers had a 15 to 8 lead after the first quarter. The Jaguars responded in the second, outscoring the ‘Climbers 16 to 7 to take a 24-22 lead at the half.
The Bothell school was five better than Shelton in the third (16 to 11) to take a 40 to 33 into the fourth when the teams played even in the final quarter.
The Highclimbers dropped their second game of the season, falling to 7-and-2. They take on Mountain View at 11:15 AM Friday in the Tournament’s second round. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that game live.
The Thunder, by the way, was dismantled by Parkrose in the first round 90 to 56. The Broncos jumped out to a 40 to 24 first quarter lead and after a low scoring second the Oregon school led 45 to 26 at the half. Parkrose kept the presure on in the third building a 66 to 38 lead. The fourth quarter was a bit closer (24 to 18) but the Broncos moved on to the tournament’s semifinals. Parkrose will take on North Creek at 6:15 PM Friday.
Burlington-Edison knocked off Wilson Friday 54 to 37. The Tigers play Kentlake at 8 PM Friday in the semi finals. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will also be broadcasting that game live.
The Falcons knocked off the host team, Fort Vancouver, 63 to 54. Garrett Eversole led Kentlake with 16 points. Jaleel Walton added 14.
