[VIDEO] The Port of Shelton Commission approved a purchase and sales agreement with the Shelton Yacht Club for Oakland Bay Marina.
Tuesday afternoon’s action by the Port was contingent on the Shelton City Council taking action on a Quit Claim for 17 tideland parcels under the marina and a 99-year lease for rights-of-way that pass through the marina. That action occurred Tuesday night.
Last April, the Port of Shelton started looking into what to do with the Shelton marina as repair’s to the marina’s south dock are estimated at $3 Million. One of the options being considered was selling the marina and the Yacht Club came forward.
In 1950, the City deeded the tideland parcels to the Port for the marina. That deed included restrictions that the property only be used for Port District purposes and those parcels could revert back to City ownership if the Port declares the property surplus. Council’s action transfers the parcels to the Yacht Club while keeping the pervision to maintain public access.
