The Shelton boys’ basketball team suffered their first loss of the season Friday falling to Timberline 79 to 65.
The Highclimbers started fast building a nine-point first quarter lead but the Blazers rallied late in the quarter and led by 15 at the half. Timberline kept the pressure on the ‘Climbers and maintained that double digit lead through the second half.
Five Blazers scored in double digits: Hunter Campau 16 points, Ross Jones 14, Cole Hicks and Trevor Joubert had 13 points each, and Nic LeDoux added 10 points. Timberline shot 59 percent from the field.
Shelton was led in the loss by Tyler Auld’s 19 points hitting five three-pointers. Ty Thompson added 13 points hitting five of six shots. Kyler Gall finished with 11 points hitting three three-pointers. The Highclimbers had three players foul out: Caeleb Hitsman with 6:15 left in the game; Thompson with 5:56 remaining; and Jason Kenyon at the 4:14 mark. Shelton Coach Derrick Pringle was also ejected from the game.
The ‘Climbers drop to 5-and-1 on the season, 3-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. Timberline improved to 7-and-2 overall, 4-and-0 in the SSC.
Shelton hosts North Thurston Wednesday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost at Timberline Friday 56 to 34. The Lady Highclimbers drop to 1-and-4 on the season, 1-and-3 in the South Sound Conference. The travel to North Thurston Wednesday.
The North Mason games against Port Angeles were postponed Friday due to weather and power outages.
The Mary M. Knight basketball teams host Oakville Saturday.
