The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost to Gig Harbor 53 to 36 Wednesday in a game broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Lady Highclimbers couldn’t overcome a two-point first quarter (scoring their first points with 1:15 remaining in the quarter) and were unable to stop the Tide’s Brynna Maxwell who finished with a game-high 31 points.
After shooting 57 percent against Yelm Friday, the Shelton girls only hit 11 of 30 shots from the floor against Gig Harbor. The Tide shot 50 percent Wednesday but was only 1 for 7 from three-point range.
The Highclimbers were led in scoring by Jayde Smith’s 10 points who hit the game’s first three-pointer in the fourth quarter.
Shelton drops to 1-and-3 on the season, 1-and-2 in the South Sound Conference. Gig Harbor improved to 5-and-1 overall, 3-and-0 in the SSC.
The Lady-‘Climbers hit the road Friday traveling to Timberline.
